Cleaning, organizing, and getting rid of things that are no longer used or liked is of paramount importance in the quest for a harmonious space. You could Feng Shui until the cows come home (but they wouldn't, as cows gravitate toward positive earth energy), but a dirty, disorganized and cluttered space will never feel good. Not cleaning and organizing before creating a harmonious space is like putting makeup and nice clothing on when you just spent the weekend hiking and camping with no use of showers or of a hairbrush! In addition, a cluttered and disorganized space overloads the senses and that translates into a disorganized, confused, overwhelmed person! If, for example, your desk is a mess with piles of unorganized papers, post-it notes everywhere, and empty coffee cups and such, you are probably not working very efficiently. No doubt, you waste time looking for stuff which causes forgetfulness. Searching for things makes concentrating on the task at hand more difficult. This extra work is stressful and will leave you feeling tired and cranky. Give yourself a break--organize and clean up! If you haven't done so recently, get into the radiator grills, dust the areas that are out of reach with a telescoping duster, wash your windows. Or, hire someone--just do it! Clean and organize one room at a time. Throw out only what is truly garbage and store the rest of your belongings. When you are finished, take your accumulated stuff and recycle, donate, give away or have a tag sale! The best part about organizing is that once it's done, it's done. (At least the worst of it. Occasional organizing will always be a n occasional chore.) No more searching! If the tasks of organizing and removing clutter is simply too daunting a task, I can help. |
