Interview with Tammy McCure designer and owner

Organic infant and toddler tees

Norma: Cultivate Kids provides organic cotton tees for infants and toddlers. Tell me about the positive messages printed on them and the significance of the messages.

Tammy: The t-shirts and onesies are made in the USA out of 100% organic cotton.  They are soft to the touch.
The messages on the shirts serve as a positive inspiration for busy parents and caregivers to read, think about and do.  For example, “Cultivate My Creativity” is a great reminder to be calm when your child has found a pen left laying out and has written all over the table with it.  The young child, excited to express his creativity with a fun tool, did not know or forgot that he shouldn’t use it on a table top.  When a child is wearing that shirt, the parent or caregiver takes a moment to cool down and react in a positive way.  I would suggest telling the child that they should only color on paper.  If the child is old enough, you can let them help you clean it up.
100% Potential is my favorite phrase and best selling shirt.  I believe that we are all born with potential and that it should be nurtured starting at birth.  This concept can be applied in all areas of the child’s life.

Norma: Tell me about the safe printing process.

Tammy:  The method the printer uses to dye our shirts is called REHANCE.  It uses water-based low-impact reactive dyes that do not contain PVC, phthalates or solvents.  The print is breathable and will not crack over time.  This method also allows for the shirts to be preshrunk during the dying process.
