Expert in Creating Green and Balanced Spaces

Interview with Maria Falce, founder and owner

Norma: Tell me about your medicinal grade essential oils. Energetically, how do they compare to industrial or synthetic grade essential oils?

Maria:    I purchase my oils from Original Swiss Aromatics out of California.  They are a wonderful company who also teach aromatherapy/medicine worldwide.  One of the things that makes them and the oils they sell so special is that they travel to the little villages and communities where the plants are grown and the oils distilled and they meet the farmers, many of whom are generational growers, the fields and the art of distilling has been in their family for many generations.  They know that the quality is there, that the full plant essence is in the oil and that the earth has been honored in the growing and harvest of the plants.  When the earth is honored in this way the resulting essential oils fully represent the healing properties of the plant and the healing intention of the Earth.  These plants are grown on old   and wise soil and that wisdom is imparted into the oils.  You can feel the difference.  When you smell an industrial or synthetic oil the aroma stays in the nose and face area.  When you smell one of the oils that I use in my products you will feel it in many different places in your body.

Take for instance rose oil.  This in one of the most commonly cloned/synthetic oils because it takes 1 ton of rose petal to make 1 oz of rose oil.  If you are paying less than 125.00 for 5 mls of rose oil, it is not real.  So, if you smell a synthetic rose it will saturate your nose and face and probably give you a really bad headache.  When you smell real rose you feel it in your heart as an opening or melting.  It is so beautiful; sometimes it brings tears to my eyes, really.  The real oils are a full body experience.  Many of the oils out there on the market, even the organic ones can be real but not pure.  What that means is that you may be buying Lavender but you may be getting a lot more lavender or spike lavender to stretch the more expensive lavendula angustifolia.  Other times they will extend/stretch the oils with a carrier such as soy oil or something like it.  The industrial oils are very crudely distilled and many times processed with a hexane solvent that is then present in the oil.  The synthetic oils are lab created by cloning the fragrance of a real oil.  They are preserved with formaldehyde.

Energetically, there is no comparison. The synthetic oils are dead and the industrial oils are weak and lack substance and direction.  Both are toxic or potentially toxic.  The rest of the oils out there that are not 100%pure are not necessarily bad oils, they are just not true, they are not complete and at best smell good.  Their ability to heal is muddied due to the mixing and dilution of various oils, you just don’t know what you are getting or what it can/will do.  There are oils that are grown here in the States that are pure; they are just energetically different from the oils I use.  This goes back to the land and the wisdom of the Earth.  The European oils are older and wiser and have deeper healing qualities that have been tracked and used for centuries.  The American oils have been around for 100 to 200 years at most and are just more immature energetically and because we lack a full understanding of the oils in our culture, we just don’t know what the healing properties of these plants are.  It is so adaptable and dependent upon the environment that the same lavender plant grown here and in France will have totally different medicinal qualities.  So, I am not saying that all American grown essential oils are bad or inferior just that they are not yet fully understood and have a tendency toward energetic immaturity.  Here is an example that I feel explains what I am saying.  Last summer, my husband came running into the house, a wasp had stung him numerous times.  He was in a great amount of pain.  I only had a couple of drops of my good lavender left and didn’t want to part with it (mean wife) so I offered him the bottle of[ a popular brand of essential oil]  lavender, this is a very popular and common brand in the US.  I figured that since lavender is so giving with its oils that it had to be real.  He applied the oil and continued to complain of extreme pain and burning from the stings.  I finally gave in and gave him my wild lavender and within 2 seconds of application, all of his pain was gone.  Later that day, there were no physical signs that he had ever been stung, the redness and the welts were completely gone.  Now, was this a case of a synthetic oil or a diluted oil or an oil grown somewhere that wasp stings were not prevalent?  I do not know for sure.  I just know that it did not have the healing properties that lavender is supposed to have, so in my opinion it is an inferior oil, real or not.

Norma: That's a great story. I write about the amazing energy that flowers have in ones home (especially organically grown ones) in my book.  I try to impress that using dried, freeze-dried or artificial flowers add nothing, while real flowers fill the space with life-affirming, healing energy.

You mentioned that your recipes came to you in meditation. Can you expand on that?

Maria:  When I was still practicing my healing work, before my daughter was born, I would sit in meditation before my sessions and many times I would get information channeled to me.  Shortly after a friend gave me some beautiful beeswax as a gift, I was given the recipe for my Sore Muscle Salve and then the Headache Stick.  I went to the kitchen and made these recipes as given and they were perfect.  Since then, I have made well over 25 products that have come to me in a similar fashion.

Norma: Please describe the headache and boo boo stick .

Maria:  The Headache Stick is a healing balm that probably should be called a pain relief stick.  It is made with a base of cold pressed grapeseed oil and beeswax and vitamin E mixed with equal parts of wild lavender(lavendula angustifolia sauvage) and peppermint( mentha piperita) and energetically kissed with Bach Rescue Remedy and FES Self Heal Flower Essences.  The Lavender and Peppermint combined acts as nature’s analgesic and is a remarkable pain reliever.  It works with headaches and everything else that hurts!

The Boo Boo Stick is my most versatile product.  It is made to replace 3 toxic over the counter preparations!  It is a topical antibiotic, analgesic and anti-itch salve.  It is made with organic herbs that are deeply healing, organic hemp oil, and the powerful essential oil combination of equal parts of wild lavender (lavendula angustifolia sauvage) and tea tree (melaleuca alternifolia) and everlasting (helichrysum italicum) and german chamomile (matricaria recutita).  It is a very powerful healing stick and is used for everything from a cut/scrape to poison ivy to chickenpox.  Kids love it!

Norma: Where can I find your products?

Maria:  My products are available online at Lotus Body. and at various small stores around the Midwest.
