“Lucky Bamboo”, or Chinese Dracaenas, is considered a symbol of prosperity, luck and harmony by the Chinese. The length of the stem will never change, but the leaves will grow. You can purchase lucky bamboo in a variety of lengths, straight (as pictured), braided or curled. For prosperity, place bamboo in the wealth corner of a room, which is the far left corner or Gua. For harmony and good health, place in the health Gua, or center of the room. Plants are beneficial in any place in ones space, however. The beauty of bamboo is that it can thrive where other plants cannot; bamboo likes indirect or low light.

The objects on the shelves represent all of the elements and add balance to this room that has an abundance of the air element. Water is represented in the flowers, the turquoise and violet colors and in the 'watery feel' of the sideboard. The Fire element is candles and the Earth element is the earthenware, metal candlesticks and wood shelves. The result is a balanced and beautiful area. |

Color is an important aspect of Harmonious Adjustments. The warm colors-- reds, yellows and oranges-- excite and stimulate us and are considered yang and extroverted. The cool colors-- blues, indigoes and violets-- relax and calm us and are considered yin and introverted. Green is neutral. This room is predominately the cool colors and the overall effect is one of serenity and of peace. |
